The history of the house which was built hotel in, dates back to 1906. The house was built for the residents of Yekaterinoslav (modern Dnieper) with high social status. Stucco on the walls of the house is made in the zoomorphic style. Columns, windows and cornices decorated with lion heads. Apartments in this house were large and spacious, with high ceilings. After the revolution of 1917, power passed into the hands of the Bolsheviks, and the spacious, comfortable apartments have become cramped and uncomfortable public utilities apartment. August 19, 1941, the first shelling of the Nazi artillery, and August 25, 1941, German troops had occupied the city. During the occupation, as a consequence of large-scale artillery shelling, the house №8 on Krasnaya street hit by a shell. Breaking through the roof and two floors it stuck and did not explode. The walls of the house stood, and the life it continued even in such conditions. Sovetskaya Army liberated the city only 25 October 1943. During the liberation the former Dnepropetrovsk was defeated and the most part of city was deserted ruins. Only 50 years restoring of the destroyed infrastructure and urban construction, the city began a new life. In the postwar years in the house still remained the structure of communal apartments, and in the basement of a medical detoxification center was created.
Construction of the hotel «Litera» began in 2011. Two years were preparation and repair of the building, and already 12 February 2013, the first floor of the hotel was opened. After another year, two more floors were put into operation.
The hotel has retained the original cast-iron staircase, which was installed in the building in 1906. Also in the hotel houses a large collection of securities of the late 19th, early 20th centuries. It is located on the hotel’s walls and each guest can get acquainted with it.
